AUT Establishes Collaboration with UCSI University in Malaysia

In a significant stride towards international collaboration in academia, Ajou University in Tashkent (AUT) has embarked on a promising partnership with UCSI University in Malaysia. This collaboration was solidified through a series of pivotal meetings, aiming to enhance educational and research opportunities for students and faculty from both institutions.

On June 7, 2024, an initial meeting took place at the UCSI University campus in Malaysia. The Vice-Rector of Ajou University in Tashkent, B. Kuchkorov, and the Head of the Department of International Relations, M. Mirsolikhov, were graciously hosted by Roland Chan Chih Chien, the Director of the Global Engagement Office at UCSI University. The meeting was also attended by Associate Professor Dr. Ang Chun Kit, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Technology, and Built Environment, Stephen Corneilius, the Senior Manager for the Global Engagement Office, and Ts. Dr. Shayla Islam, the Acting Deputy Director and head of the Research Institute of Computer Science and Digital Innovation.

Following this productive initial engagement, a follow-up meeting was held on July 1, 2024, at Ajou University in Tashkent. The UCSI University delegation included Assoc Prof EUR ING Ir Ts Dr. Ang Chun Kit, the Registrar of UCSI Education Group, Senior Director of Group Human Resource Ts Khalid Abdullah Bin Abu Bakar. They were warmly received by Rector Prof. G.Muratov, Vice-Rector B.Kuchkarov, Head of the Department of International Relations M. Mirsolikhov, Director of Academic Affairs Lee Sang Hyon, Dean of the Department of Civil & Construction Engineering Prof. Yung Seok Shin, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Hwang Myeon-Eun, Head of Marketing V.Amanlikov, and other esteemed professors.

During these meetings, the two universities discussed and agreed upon several key initiatives aimed at fostering a dynamic academic environment and cross-cultural learning experiences. Among the highlights of the proposed collaboration are:

- Exchange Programs: Both universities plan to initiate exchange programs for professors and students, allowing for a rich exchange of knowledge and cultural perspectives.

- Summer and Winter Schools: Ajou University in Tashkent and UCSI University will host summer and winter schools, providing students with invaluable international exposure and academic enrichment.

- Postgraduate Programs: UCSI University has pledged support for postgraduate programs tailored for AUT students, including full scholarships for 20 outstanding students to pursue a PhD in Engineering and Computer Science directly from their bachelor's degree.

- Scholarships: Various scholarships for master's programs will also be offered, further enhancing educational opportunities for students.

Vice-Rector Kuchkarov Bokhodir of Ajou University in Tashkent expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the mutual benefits and opportunities for growth and innovation that this partnership brings. The agreement to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the upcoming months signifies a strong commitment to fostering academic excellence, cultural exchange, and mutual growth.

This collaboration between Ajou University in Tashkent and UCSI University is poised to open new avenues for research, innovation, and academic advancement, benefiting students, faculty, and the broader academic community. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, partnerships like these serve as beacons of progress in the global academic landscape, promising a brighter future built on collaboration, innovation, and shared knowledge.
