50 years ago, in 1973, Ajou University was established under the motto "The best university of the 21st century" based on the agreement on the development of the field of education signed between the governments of the Republic of Korea and France.
In the early years, the university trained specialists in the fields of education specializing in engineering. During the development stages, university began to teach in many areas, such as mechanical engineering, industrial management, medicine and architecture. Now, more than 700 professors teach about 14,000 students in more than 40 fields of study at Ajou University.
In the past half century, Ajou University has become one of the most successful institutions of higher education in Korea. The university occupies the 488th place in the QS World University Rankings, the 8th place among Korean universities, and the 162nd place in the world according to the industry income category. In 2021, Ajou University ranked fourth among Korean universities in terms of technology development.
Ajou University makes a great contribution to increasing the competitiveness of large companies and the country, and providing employment to the population, making maximum use of research achievements through the commercialization of technologies. The university has established relations with more than 70 educational institutions of the world and cooperates within the framework of various programs.
Rector of the University Muratov Gairat Azatovich and First Vice-Rector Lim Jay Ick took part in the ceremony of celebrating the 50th anniversary of Ajou University held today.
