Using the Modern technology and potential websites in learning languages and their results

USING THE MODERN TECHNOLOGY AND POTENTIAL WEBSITES IN LEARNING LANGUAGES AND THEIR RESULTS.

Key words: VOKI presentation, QUIZZIZ, teachers, lesson comprehension, SAMR model (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition), quizzes, tests.

Abstract: There are a lot of researches being done not only to teach a foreign language, but also to find and try new methods, technologies and techniques  of teaching languages. This is one of the most important issues for educational system today. Due to improve the quality of the lessons, they should be used.

Nowadays, time is going. Before, teachers conducted the lessons face to face with the learners. But currently everything is changed, especially during the pandemic time and we work with online regime. I want to show the importance of online in education sphere. A lot of percentages of education system are using online lessons, conferences and so on. The first time it was tough, but now it is more comfortable and interesting both of teaching and learning. Via teaching online I have been searching more sites and information which can be potential to language learning. In the first times I did not know how to use zoom program and could not search anything. Because I use only workbooks, manuals. After learning everything which connection with internet and computer technology, I understand that online teaching is one of the best methods in the sphere of education. There are a lot of sites and programs that are beneficial in education. And now I want to share how to use VOKI presentation.

It is one of the means of teaching which can attract the students. You can include the name in searching field www. Voki/com/site/create. Then your screen opens with different appearances (you can wear the figure, change appearance and voice), you can include your own voice too.

At the beginning of the article, you should know what is –VOKI. It is an educational tool for teachers and students, that can be used to enhance instruction, engagement, and lesson comprehension. Voki can be used in class (for student work), as an animated presentation tool, for student assignments, and as a virtual supervised discussion forum (Voki Hangouts).
Voki’s characters can be like historical figures, cartoons, animals, and more. Give your Voki sound by recording your voice, or using text-to-speech (over 30 languages supported, hundreds of voices to choose from). Students have fun creating their speaking characters and making them talk. Teachers can direct this activity through assignments, presentations, and dialogue groups.

The name Voki is a combination of the words "vox" and "Loki". "Vox" is the Latin term for voice. Loki is a Norse god from Norse mythology. Loki is a trickster who has the ability to change his shape. Fitting name since Voki gives students and teachers the ability to change the character's appearance and add a voice!

I use Voki a lot when I conduct my lessons. It takes approximately 5-10 minutes. Not only students but also teachers relax from it. For example, I  made a lesson in terms of  “Present Simple Tense”, before I explained the grammar, show the samples and give exercises. After I demonstrated  theVoki presentation which I had created myself.  Obviously, I chose a hero from the animators and use the writings, choose the voice and speed.          I suggest the learning languages with new directions give more growing in this sphere. It is one of the developing ways in teaching.

In sum up, I should write that nowadays it is one of merit version in learning languages and attract the learners.

In addition to learning websites, I can recommend QUIZZIZ too. It is also one of learning platform. You can find quizzes, tests, presentations, lessons and flashcards for students, employees. It is free site.

Only you should sign up to this site and you can create anything what you want which related to teaching and learning. You can share it (creation) with group, friend and students.  After providing students with a unique access code, a quiz can be presented live as a timed competition or used for homework with a specific deadline. After the quizzes have been completed, students can review their answers. Furthermore, the resulting data is compiled into a spreadsheet to give the instructor a clear visual of the students’ performance in order to analyze trends in which areas might need the most focus in the future. This immediate feedback can be used by teachers to revise future learning activities and altar the focus of material by putting a larger emphasis on concepts that students are struggling with.

I think everyone knows what is SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition). It is very remarkable to connect QUIZIZZ with SAMR.  Here is an example of how Quizziz might fit within the SAMR model:

Substitution: Students take an online quiz on Quizziz rather than on a piece of paper.

Augmentation: As they take the quiz, the students can see how their responses compare to the rest of the class while remaining anonymous.

Modification: The students are able to review their responses immediately while still fresh in their minds rather than having to wait for a teacher to grade each individually.

Redefinition: The instructor reviews the trends in the class’s data (i.e. which problems took students longest to answer, which questions the most students got wrong, etc…) and uses these results to determine which topics need further attention.
